    How long does it take to get a visa upon arrival at Vietnam international airports?

    Usually, it takes from 20 to 40 minutes to obtain your VOA at a Vietnam international airport. But it depends on the number of people at the counter.

    How do I pay the fees?

    There are 2 fees that you need to pay: service fee and stamping fee.

    The service fee must be paid in advance in order to process your order.

    The stamping fee is paid directly at the Landing visa counter (only USD or VND is accepted). It is advised that you should prepare the money beforehand.

    Do I need to arrive on the exact date specified in my Vietnam Visa?

    Not necessary. You can arrive within the validity of your visa, but not before the entry date specified in it.

    Is Visa on Arrival legitimate?

    Yes, it is as it is allowed by the Vietnam Laws. You can check it at Government’s Decree No. 21/2001/ND-CP and Joint Circular No. 04/2002/TTLT/BCA-BNG.

    Who can apply for Visa on Arrival?

    Visa on Arrival is available for nearly everyone, as long as you are a foreigner holding a valid passport and do not fall under these cases:

    • Under-14 children who are not accompanied by their parents, guardians, or authorized persons.
    • Those who have forged papers or made false declarations to obtain entry, exit, or residence papers.
    • Those who suffer from mental diseases or infectious diseases that threaten the community’s health.
    • Those who were expelled from Vietnam within the last 3 years, counted from the effective date of the expulsion decisions.
    • Those who were compelled to leave Vietnam within the last 6 months, counted from the effective date of the decisions on compelled exit.
    • For epidemic prevention and control.
    • In circumstances of natural disasters.
    • For national defense, security or social order and safety.

    Can I enter Vietnam without a visa?

    You can enter Vietnam without a visa for a period of time if you are from a country that has visa exemption agreements with Vietnam. Otherwise, you are obligated to acquire a valid Vietnam visa to legally enter the country.

    Citizens from which countries can enter Vietnam without a visa?

    As of December 2020, Vietnam officially allows citizens of 24 nations to enter the country without a visa. Check out this list of Vietnam visa exemption countries.

    How do I get a tourist visa for Vietnam?

    Can I pay for both the service fee and stamping fee online in advance?

    Unfortunately, you can only pay the service online before arriving to Vietnam. The stamping fee must be paid at the arrival airport.

    Important: You need to pay the stamping fee in cash.

    What if I want to change my arrival airport in Vietnam?

    As long as you land in an international airport, you will get your Vietnam visa on arrival stamped on your passport with no problems. You can switch your arrival airport between these 9 international airports:

    • Noi Bai (Ha Noi)
    • Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh city)
    • Da Nang (Da Nang)
    • Cam Ranh (Khanh Hoa)
    • Phu Bai (Hue)
    • Phu Quoc (Phu Quoc Island)
    • Vinh (Vinh)
    • Can Tho (Can Tho)
    • Cat Bi (Hai Phong)

    Can US citizens get a visa on arrival in Vietnam?

    Yes. All you must do is to arrive in Vietnam by air and complete your Vietnam visa application online before your trip. Plus, you must also have a valid passport that meets the below requirements to enter Vietnam:

    • Your passport must be valid for at least six months.
    • Your passport is still valid after leaving Vietnam.
    • Your passport still has at least one blank page for the entry and exit stamps.
    • Visit the  Embassy of Vietnam website for up-to-date information.

    What is the difference between an E-visa and a visa on arrival?

    The difference lies in their natures. Travelers can apply and obtain their E-visa online before their journey. On the other hand, VOAs can only be obtained once the travelers reach destinations that are mostly international airports.

    Do I need a visa for 15 days in Vietnam?

    It depends. Certain countries are exempted from visas for under 15-days of stay in Vietnam. For a full reference, please visit this website.

    How much money do I need a day in Vietnam?

    It depends. To backpackers, around $50/day should be enough (and that includes expenses for food, accommodation, activities).

    As for mid-range travel, you should expect to spend somewhere between $60-100 per day. And for a luxury vacation in five-star accommodations or high-end restaurants, you need to spend at least $200 per day.

    Are there any travel advisories for Vietnam?

    Yes. Due to the current pandemic, Vietnam has suspended the entry of all foreigners from March 22nd until further notice. Only those who are diplomats, officials, investors, experts, and skilled workers can enter the country and oblige to all the safety precautions and quarantines.

    Do I have to submit any hard document to apply for a visa upon arrival Vietnam online?

    What are the requirements for an appropriate Vietnam visa photo?

    How can I extend or renew my Vietnam visa?

    Can I apply for a Vietnam visa on arrival if my passport validity is less than 6 months?

    If your passport validity is less than 6 months, the Vietnam Immigration Department will not accepted your visa application. Therefore, please be advised that you should renew your passport before apply for a visa upon arrival to Vietnam.

    Do I have to arrive at the exact same date provided in the application form?

    You are allowed to arrive before or after the date of arrival you provided in the online visa application form. However, you need to leave Vietnam before your visa expiration date.
